A MECIR (Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating) is an essential step in any successful pilot’s professional career. It allows you to pilot aircraft with more than one engine, and most importantly, it provides you with the flexibility and skills to depart and arrive at aerodromes safely when the weather is marginal or after dark. The MECIR is generally a requirement for Commercial Charter operations as well as the first step after a CPL on the way to an airline career.
Our MECIR course follows our CASA approved syllabus and includes a mix of training in our full glass cockpit Tecnam P2006T multi-engine IFR trainer and our brand new CASA approved FRASCA RTD synthetic trainer. You will learn how to fly using your instrumentation rather than visual cues outside the aircraft, as well as advanced ATC communication and arrival and departure procedures for a range of different airspace types.
To commence MECIR (Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating) training, you need to hold a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) or Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), plus 50 hrs cross-country command.

We do have the option to complete some flying in a single-engine Instrument rated aircraft, with minimum flight hours in the Multi-Engine $24,500
We can also offer a base multi-engine rating, not associated with an instrument rating if you want the extra safety and speed of a multi-engine aeroplane but are content to fly VFR. Contact us for pricing.
There is also an option of doing a Command Instrument Rating wholly in a single engine aircraft.
