Who can fly a drone? Are there any requirements?
To fly a drone commercially, you are required to have a UAV Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) from CASA. Students must attend a CASA credited company like SkyMedia Training to obtain a UAV Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) certificate.
The training is a five day course and will cover theory and practical flying to prepare you for operating safety. This also includes your Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC) with English proficiency exams included which is required to operate an air-band radio and communicate with manned aircraft’s.
For those who hold a Private Pilot’s Licence or better qualification you are not required to sit the 5 day course. We run another course called manufacturers training day. This is a 1 day course which will cover UAV specific theory and practical flying. Please give us a call as their are a few conditions which may make it a more viable option to sit the Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) course instaed.
