This article documents Warnervale Airport’s role in a significant heritage aviation event associated with a reunion of RAAF No. 83 Squadron. A restored CAC Boomerang fighter was scheduled to land at Warnervale, giving Central Coast residents an opportunity to see an important Australian-designed World War II aircraft.
The article also records the involvement of restorer Guido Zuccoli and former No. 83 Squadron ground crew member Ken Fitzgerald. Of particular historical interest is the contemporary description of the aircraft as the only airworthy Boomerang in the world.
