This article represents a significant shift from the intense airport-development disputes documented throughout the 1990s. Rather than focusing primarily on runway extensions and opposition to a regional airport, it presents Warnervale Airport as an established community, tourism and economic asset and connects the successful Central Coast Air Show directly with proposals for a future aviation precinct.
The reported attendance of more than 20,000 visitors provides an important contemporary measure of the airport’s capacity to host a major regional event. Regional Development Australia Central Coast argued that the event generated economic activity, promoted tourism and demonstrated the broader value of the airport to the Central Coast.
