The Cessna 172S (VH-FWC) combines the renowned stability and handling characteristics of the iconic Skyhawk with modern avionics, enhanced performance and additional safety features. Powered by a 180 HP fuel-injected Lycoming engine, VH-FWC delivers improved power and fuel efficiency while providing an excellent platform for both flight training and private aircraft hire.
Equipped with a Garmin GNX375 GPS navigator, VH-FWC provides commonality with VH-CJH, allowing pilots to build confidence with contemporary GPS navigation and flight management systems. The aircraft also features tall leather seats, an updated instrument panel and a refined interior, offering a comfortable and practical environment for both training and touring.
A key feature of VH-FWC is its aftermarket ballistic parachute recovery system. Designed for use only in exceptional emergency situations, the system is capable of lowering the entire aircraft safely to the ground in the event of a catastrophic structural failure or an unrecoverable loss of control. It provides an additional layer of safety not found on the club’s other Cessna 172 aircraft.
Pilots transitioning from the club’s C172N aircraft will complete a short differences familiarisation covering the fuel-injected engine, Garmin GNX375 navigator and the ballistic parachute system before operating VH-FWC.
