This short article is particularly important to the history of the Central Coast Aero Club itself, rather than simply the wider Warnervale Airport redevelopment controversy.
It records that Central Coast Aero Club members had established an airstrip on land acquired by the club at Warnervale more than 20 years earlier. It then places the club within the subsequent evolution of the site, from consideration as a possible alternative major international airport location through its 1977 identification as a prospective regional airport and Wyong Council’s later plans for regional airport development.
The article presents the Warnervale Airport restrictions introduced by Wyong MP Paul Crittenden as having an unintended consequence: potentially threatening the survival of the organisation responsible for establishing aviation operations at the site in the first place.
