The Sydney Morning Herald, 29 November 1978, p. 24. “Shire of Wyong” public notice.

Exceptional Historical Significance
Documents the acquisition of land required for the future airport, representing one of the most significant commitments made by government towards the establishment of Warnervale Airport. Unlike earlier planning studies and proposals, this article records tangible action—the securing of land for the airport. It marks the transition from planning and policy into implementation and is a critical milestone in the airport's development.

This public notice, published by the *Sydney Morning Herald* on 29 November 1978, documents one of the earliest known planning steps towards the establishment of Warnervale Airport. The notice records Wyong Shire Council’s proposal to amend Interim Development Order No. 58 to allow the subdivision of land on Sparks Road, Warnervale, enabling part of the property to be acquired for a future airport site.

Although only a statutory planning notice, the document demonstrates that the airport was already being considered through formal land-use planning and public consultation. Community members were invited to inspect the proposal and lodge submissions before a decision was made, illustrating the regulatory process that accompanied the airport’s early development.

Today, this notice represents an important milestone in the history of Warnervale Airport, marking the transition from concept to formal planning and providing valuable insight into the origins of one of the Central Coast’s key aviation facilities.

SHIRE OF WYONG: Council is making application for the alteration of the provision of Interim Development Order No. 58 to permit the subdivision of Lot 23 DP 539361 Sparks Road, Warnervale, so that Council can acquire portion of the property for the Warnervale Airport site. A plan of the proposed subdivision is available for perusal at Council’s offices during business hours and any person wishing to comment on the proposal may do so in writing on or before December 27, 1978. J. S. DAWSON, Shire Clerk. P.O. Box 174, Wyong 2259. 29/11/78.
